Planning For Your New Spa

You may be considering purchasing a spa for your home for entertainment purposes or for health reasons.   Regardless of your reason for purchasing a spa you need to consider the following factors: cost, design, and location.

Determine the Costs Involved With Purchasing Your New Spa:  Knowing your budget is important.   You will need to estimate the amount of money you are able to spend on this purchase which not only includes the purchase of the spa, but consider installation costs including electrical wiring, plumbing, foundation requirements, necessary accessories like chemicals, daily utility costs, and the yearly maintenance costs you will endure to maintain your investment.

Layout the Design of Your New Spa: The style and look of your spa is very important and the options are endless.   Consider the type of spa that fits your needs as well as your available space.   What size spa best fits your needs?  What exterior design best fits your property or home? Each type of spa has its own advantages and disadvantages so research is key, and consider how each aspect of the design will enhance your life.

Select a Location For Your Spa: When choosing an indoor location, consider the following factors including the weight of your spa, strength of the substructure, drainage, water-resistance, humidity, and ventilation.   Your home will be exposed to high level of humidity and ventilation is very important to avoid damage.   It is recommended that you consult with a professional contractor.  You want to create a tranquil setting for your spa so also consider a location that has a low level of traffic.   You will need to consider the trail of water from the spa to the changing area as well, so consider choosing a location near a bathroom or dressing room. When choosing an outdoor location you need to remember that your spa requires a firm and level foundation.   You should use pea gravel, sand, pressured wood, or a concrete slab.  Also consider if you want your spa in a private location or as the center of focus in your yard.   Other considerations include the ease of access to the spa and consider placing your spa in a shaded area.  For either location remember to leave a perimeter around the spa to allow easy access in and out of the spa and for maintenance to the system.
