Pool Do It Yourself → Hide an Above Ground Swimming Pool

Hide An Above Ground Pool

The Above-Ground Pool Eye Sore:
Do you have an above-ground pool that is unattractive in its location in your yard?  Maybe you moved in to your house and the previous owners were not thoughtful in their selection of the location of the pool, or maybe you had few options in your yard as to where to install your above-ground pool. Whatever the reason, having an above ground pool in the middle of your yard may be an eye sore to you, but it CAN be fixed.

Make Your Pool More Attractive:
Consider installing decking around your above-ground pool to enhance its visual appeal.  A good idea may be to have multi-leveld decking to break up the large top-heavy look that might otherwise occur.  The multi-leveled deck feature will lend itselfwell to a shorter stair systen, rather than a ladder that may need to be used for a single-level or catwalk-type deck.  If you choose to put a deck around your swimming pool, make sure you also include some "No Diving" signs around the pool deck area, as decks can sometimes invite such dangerous behaviors by making the pool appear deeper than it is.

Fencing is another option which should be strongly considered, not only for its visual appeal, but also for safety reasons.  Some latice around the fencing will lend itself to intertwining plants which are vine-like.  You could also include hanging plants around a fence.  Fences will help section off areas of the poolscape and can create some shade.  Be createve with your fencing and include a relaxing picnic or BBQ area near the pool, but separating the area from splashing water.
