Pool Heaters

Pool heaters are mechanical pool equipment that can be installed to produce heat and warm the swimming pool water.

The temperature of swimming pool water can be controlled in the same manner as a home heating system.  Pool heaters have thermostats allowing pool owners to set the temperature of the swimming pool water to suit individual needs.  The thermostat turns the heater on when the pool water temperature drops below desired degree, and once the desired temperature is reached, it turns off.  Pool Heaters can also be equipped with either single or duel thermostats allowing owners of both pools and spas to control the temperature of the pool water and spa separately.  There are three common pool heaters to choose from. They include solar pool heaters, gas pool heaters, and heat pumps.  Initial purchase, installation and operating costs vary between the different pool heaters.  All are a good option for increasing the time one can spend in the swimming pool, making the money spent on the pool itself a more worthwhile investment.  Some creative pool owners choose to combine two different types of pool heater, creating a type of “hybrid” pool heater.  Wise, energy conscious pool owners who choose to run a pool heater of any type, also purchase a solar pool cover or blanket which reduces the amount of energy that must be produced by the heater itself. Pool heaters of various kinds are most frequently found in commercial pools, such as those found in hotels, spas and resorts.
