Diving Boards
Diving boards are also called springboards and are flexible platforms that are erected beside a swimming pool, secure at one end, and projecting over the water at the other end, allowing people to dive into the pool water.
Diving boards can be one of the most entertaining pieces of pool or deck equipment, but also the most dangerous if not installed or used responsibly. If the pool owner or swimmers using the diving board notice any cracks, broken or loose parts, or questionable wear and tear, the part(s) must be replaced immediately. It is worth the few dollars it may cost to replace a diving board part than to risk a life-threatening accident. If a diving board has been neglected, the entire board and stand may need to be replaced. If the diving board feels slippery, resurfacing kits are available to make the board skid-proof. Also, if you own a swimming pool with a diving board, make sure that guests using the swimming pool do not drink alcohol and dive into the pool. Alcohol is attributed to more than half of all diving board accidents and injury.
