Pool Vacuums
To remove debris from the walls and floor of a swimming pool, all pools must be vacuumed regularly, unless using an automatic pool cleaner. Pool vacuums consist of a vacuum head, a vacuum hose and a telescoping pole.
There are two different types of vacuum heads. One type is for concrete pools, is weighted and has wheels. The other vacuum head type is for vinyl-lined swimming pools, and has a soft brush rather than weights and wheels. The vacuum head is attached to the telescoping pole as well as to the vacuum hose. The other end of the vacuum hose is filled with water so that there is no air in the vacuum hose and then attached to vacuum line or a skimmer suction hole. Debris is picked up through the vacuum head and passed along through the vacuum hose with water and emptied into the filter pump basket. Upon completion of the pool vacuuming, the filter pump asket must be emptied and the filter backwashed.
